Clean up your act with our Alcatraz Towel Set, inspired by towels used on the island during the prison’s federal penitentiary years. Alcatraz inmates were issued clean towels and clothes during their regularly scheduled visits to the shower room in the prison basement–twice a week for mainline inmates, three times for those on kitchen detail. Like numerous items used on the island, the towels came from military surplus and had the branch of service name woven in (following WWII, many were sourced from the US Marine Corps).
